Eisenhower, upon leaving the office of President of the United States, warned the country about the growth of the "Military/Industrial Complex."

Most of the people of the U.S. have ignored Eisenhower's warning and they have, for the most part, ignored all other warnings. Here are some quotes which may discomfort the comfortable.

I'm not so sure people ignored Eisenhower's warning as much as they didn't understand what he was talking about. We know so much more now!

But almost no one is really interested in cutting the Defense Budget even today. The U.S. spends more on the military than basically all of the other countries of the world, and the U.S. infrastructure, education, health care, etc. is heading toward or already at last place among the developed countries.

No one listened then and no one will listen today! The great unwashed masses choose to remain outside the boundless advantages of an unknown wisdom. Even today, nothing has really changed, so what does that say about this generation?

The U.S. spends more on the military than basically all of the other countries of the world, and the U.S. infrastructure, education, health care, etc. is heading toward or already at last place among the developed countries. This isn't just something that has started the last few years, so several generations have the blame on their shoulders.
